ENJOYING THE SNOW
Although a chilly 25 degrees, the sun was warm and the air was calm. Since the snow was too deep for cross-country skis, I resorted to "Shoe Leather Express" for my walk. Children were sledding on the lane behind the house and the neighbors were making an igloo in the snow pile next to the silo.
It was quiet and peaceful by the creek when suddenly I heard a duck quack. I expected a frightened wild duck but found a friendly farm duck delighted to have my company. She chatted and swam round and round as if putting on a performance.
On my way to Rt. 655 I passed the sign that has the word ----- BELLEVILLE - missing an E!
At 5:00pm the sun continued to shine brightly on this clear day with 12 inches of snow on the ground. Around 5:15pm the sun dropped behind Stone Mountain and a golden glow formed in the eastern sky indicating more cold temps in the days ahead.
